Pedalo power on the Wear

Colin LawsonNews

Pedalo power is coming to Durham Regatta this year after enjoying a resurgence in interest in the wake of recent fundraising efforts. Radio presenter Matt Bailey has accepted a challenge to a pedalo race issued by the Regatta’s chief umpire and Great North Run regular Andrew Stephens, and the pair are in training for the contest on Regatta weekend.

Matt, who is well known to Radio Newcastle listeners as the presenter of the Breakfast programme, completed a ‘Pudalo’ fundraising challenge for BBC Children in Need last November by paddling a pedalo 53 times round the South Marine Park lake in South Shields, completing the distance of the Great North Run in 10 hours in honour of Pudsey Bear, the distance corresponding with the distance and finish location of the Great North Run.

We look forward to a fun encounter on June 8th.
