Transatlantic oarswoman Helen Butters has kindly accepted an invitation to present trophies to the winners at the prizegiving ceremony for the 185th Durham Regatta, to be staged at Durham’s Gala Theatre at 8pm on Sunday June 10th.

Helen is one of the team of four Yorkshire mums together known as Yorkshire Rows who in 2016 became the oldest all-female team to complete the 3000-mile crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

The Regatta has an impressive collection of 57 trophies, many donated by sponsors or in memory of former rowers or prominent figures from the northern region.

Team Tyne Innovation

Also in attendance, and taking part in a row-past in their boat, will be the four members of Team Tyne Innovation who will be embarking on the 2018 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in December. The team aims to showcase North East innovation and demonstrate that the innovative spirit is alive and kicking in the North East, while raising money for charities close to their heart.
