Following on from their success on the Tyne at BUCS Head in February another fabulous set of results at Nottingham over the weekend of April 29th to May 1st saw Durham University take the Overall Victor Ludorum at BUCS Regatta for the first time in eight years.
With 62 entries over the three days of competition at the six-lane National Watersports Centre, Durham had the largest entry of any of the 72 participating Universities, and won 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Durham achieved second place to Oxford Brookes University in the Men’s VL and first place in the Women’s VL, Brookes with fewer entries remaining imperious in the sweep events in the higher scoring large boat categories.

In recent years Durham University has been somewhat overshadowed by local rivals Newcastle University who this time had to settle for 11th place overall at BUCS.
This year’s results are testament to the work of the coaching team at Durham under the leadership of new head coach Rob Dauncey who took over in 2021.
Durham University Boat Club and Newcastle University Boat Club meet for their annual private match in The Boat Race of the North on the River Tyne on Saturday, May 6th.
