Wide range of classic vehicles expected

The Classic Car Rally has been a feature of the bankside activities at Durham Regatta for two decades.

Organised by the North-East section of the North of England Classic & pre-War Automobiles (NECPWA) Motoring Club it is a great attraction for enthusiasts and visitors alike. From humble beginnings it has grown to include over 200 vehicles, with classic cars from the 1920s to 1980s.

The Club’s aim is to encourage the restoration and regular use of all historic motor vehicles produced anywhere in the world. An excellent showing of a wide range of classic vehicles is expected at this year’s rally.

The rally takes place on the sports field next to the Regatta Enclosure and offers a tremendous opportunity to photograph these beautiful machines which are part of our motoring heritage, and to discuss their history with proud owners.

Visitors are very welcome to exhibit their classic car, motorbike or commercial vehicle at the Rally for an entry fee of £2.50 which includes two free tickets to the Regatta Enclosure.

There is a wide variety of entry classes, and prizes will be awarded by a panel of experienced judges. Winners will receive a trophy as well as a tankard similar to those awarded to the rowers. Please contact classic-cars@durham-regatta.org.uk if you are interested in exhibiting your vehicle, or if you have any other questions.

Details of other rallies, meetings and road runs organised by the NECPWA can be found on the Tyneside and Durham Branch website.
