The Entries Prospectus for the 188th Durham Regatta on June 12th and 13th 2021 is now available and can be downloaded from the Competitors page.

Entries will open in the early evening of Sunday, May 23rd, and will close at 10pm on Thursday, June 3rd 2021, but may be suspended earlier if capacity is reached.

Durham Regatta will be held under the British Rowing Rules of Racing. In addition, we will follow British Rowing Managing Covid-19 Advice for the Rowing Community, relevant Government and County Council guidance. The regatta will only proceed if the government’s roadmap out of lockdown permits. Spectators are strongly discouraged.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions there will be no land-based activities or entertainment at this year’s regatta. As the usual evening prizegiving will not take place winners will be able to collect their prizes after their race. Car parking will be available for competitors, officials and volunteers, but there will be no provision for camping.

Due to the ongoing repairs to New Elvet Bridge Durham County Council has confirmed that a river closure for vessels passing beneath the bridge will be in effect on the Saturday of the Regatta, but the river will be open on Sunday. Saturday ‘short course’ races will therefore be contested over a distance of 650 metres, while on Sunday the ‘short course’ will be 700 metres. Long course races on Sunday will be over 1800 metres.

Regarding the bridge works Durham County Council Strategic Highways manager Paul Watson explained “The contractor is working to a tight schedule on a very complex project where all works are linked to an overall project plan, which unfortunately does not allow works to be suspended”.

Information for Competitors will be issued when available.
