PalTV wins Student Broadcaster of the Year Award

For a second successive year Durham’s only student TV station has won the National Student Television Association (NaSTA)’s most prestigious award. The accolade of Broadcaster of the Year for 2023 was bestowed on PalTV at a ceremony at Ravensbourne University, London on April 15th.
Gold, silver and bronze awards were presented by NaSTA in each of 20 categories, and in addition to Broadcaster of the Year, the PalTV team was delighted to receive five more awards in the following categories, three of them gold.
  • Gold for News & Current Affairs: Awarded for the visual investigation into the incident at the Chinese Consulate in Manchester following the Hong Kong pro-democracy demonstrations.
  • Gold in the Tim Marshall Award for Special Recognition: for the trailblazing foreign correspondents program, PalTV Global – an outlet for individual creators covering topical news stories abroad.
  • Gold for Technical Innovation: Awarded in particular for PalTV’s 24/7 broadcast and innovations to improve live programming
  • Bronze for Post-Production: Awarded for Palatidates – a feature-length dating show broadcast last November using a new post-production process
  • Bronze in the Mars Elkins El-Brogy Award for Multimedia Content: Awarded for marketing and publicity efforts in 2022-23
