TV presenter Matt Baker will be a special guest at the 2024 Durham Regatta and will be involved in the presentation of prizes to winners as well as appearing at each day of the Regatta.

Matt grew up in County Durham, living on his parents’ farm, and was educated at Belmont Comprehensive School before training in drama.

He was a Blue Peter presenter for seven years before becoming co-presenter of Countryfile and undertaking a variety of other TV work including The One Show and BBC coverage of the Olympic Games,  commentating on gymnastics.

He is Creative Director of Big Circus Media and more recently has presented the Channel 4 series ‘Travels with Mum & Dad’ in which he visits locations around the north of England with his parents, who will also be attending the Regatta.

Matt will be joined at the prizegiving by the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham and the Mayor of Durham.
